The "Spooky" Democrat Banquet of 1964

Description

Often called the "Spooky Banquet", this is an original ticket to the Democrat Banquet held Saturday, October 3, 1964. It features a photo of John F. Kennedy and Lyndon Johnson at the top, despite the fact that JFK had already been assassinated. The story goes that this 10th annual event dubbed "For Responsible Leadership" was originally thought to feature JFk. In his place, Sargent Shriver who was a Special Assistant to President Lyndon AB Johnson and brother-in-law of the late President John F Kennedy became the principal speaker, although the tickets do not mention Shriver,just Congressman Michael J.Kirwan. Each ticket is numbered by table number. The event was held at the Idora Park Ballroom in Ohio.
