    For sale is an original envelope hand-signed by the 12th Attorney-General of the US, Joseph Barnes.
    Barnes is perhaps best known as being the doctor that attended Lincoln after his assassination, and helped nurse fellow assassination target, Secretary of State William Seward, back to health.
    Signed envelope was sent to Barnes' friend, prominent military surgeon Josiah Simpson, who served with Barnes in the Mexican-American War, and also served on several expedition mission in the West and in the Civil War. Fresh to the market from the estate of a descendent of Simpson.
