Mold No. 3219
German ceramic, etched, 0.5L, inlaid lid.
The text on the stein reads:
"
A Viertel macht glustig — a Halbe macht lustig —
a Liter macht Schneid — und nacher red’ st’ gscheidt!
"
And translates to:
"
A quarter makes you want more — a half makes you merry —
a liter gives you courage — and afterwards you talk too much.
"

Condition and Description:
Overall in very good condition.  Aside from a base chip repaired (as pictured - front), some subsequent base discoloration and very small specs (overspray) on the pewter ring + thumblift, this stein is tremendous.  A wonderful scene depicting men both drinking & smoking - nice eye appeal and great presentation.  The text on the body is timeless, and applies as much today as it did when this stein was originally conceived more than a century ago!  Oh and I am not sure of the significance, but the inlaid lid is pretty neat too, displaying a skeleton key, slipper and candle - all framed in a thorny circular vine.

Height: ~8.8" tall from base to top of thumblift
Width: ~4.3" at the base of stein's body
