AS VICE PRESIDENT, September 15, 1963, "The Vice President Washington" stationery, 7x9, to American diplomat John McCormick Blair Jr., then Ambassador to Denmark, thanking Blair and his wife for their hospitality during Johnson’s recent visit to that nation, in full:
On the eve or our departure from Denmark I wish to be sure to tell you and Mrs. Blair how much my family and I appreciate all that you did during our visit.
We are well aware of the hard work behind the scenes and the long-term preparations which an official visit requires from an Embassy. That everything went so smoothly is certainly a reflection of the energy, thoughtfulness and hospitality of you and your staff. Above all it is a tribute to your leadership. I hope you will thank each one of them for me, and especially your ‘can-do’ control room and press activity personnel.
We are particularly grateful to you and Mrs. Blair for the splendid luncheons which you offered in our honor. The hospitality and graciousness of those occasions were most memorable.
I am hopeful that our long-standing good relations with this wonderful country of Denmark have been further deepened by this visit. You may be assured that you have my very best wishes for the future success of your mission in Denmark.
