    Description

Hauber & Reuther Incised Munich Child  & Skyline Stein # 525 (pre 1907) in excellent condition.
Pottery, etched and relief, 0.5L, pewter lid.
There are no cracks or chips and the original lid is intact and fully functional. It is about 11" tall and 8 1/2" in diameter. Very hard to find stein and in lovely shape.
"The Freising, Bavaria stoneware factory that ultimately produced steins with the well known “HR” mark, was actually founded in 1876 by Adam Schön and Max Borho under the name “Schön & Borho”. Shortly thereafter, Borho’s stake in the factory fell into the hands of Albert Hauber, and the business was renamed “Schön, Hauber & Co.” In 1878, Schön sold his interest to Hauber, who continued the business as “The Hauber Co.” for the next four years. In 1882, Hans Reuther became a partner in the company, which was then renamed “Hauber and Reuther” and operated as such until ceasing production circa 1909. For practical purposes, the beer stein output of the Freising factory during the six years prior to becoming Hauber & Reuther is quite similar to that produced in the post-1882 period. Consequently, no attempt has been made to separate out the steins that may have predated the actual Hauber & Reuther partnership."

The factory finally closed in 1907.
