    Description

    For consideration is this antique 1L Capo-di-Monti style German beer stein with high relief images of cherubs dancing, winged caryatid handle and baby Bacchus finial. The stein has a set on lid with the Baby Bacchus (god of wine) holding a cup or chalice with his hand raised in the air. The body of the stein is decorated with a series of six nude cherubs, with folded fabric strategically covering certain areas, and duck heads.  The handle is an elaborate topless winged woman with leaves and berries in her hair. This is an extremely well-detailed stein and quite heavy, coming in at over 4 pounds.
    The stein measures approximately 9 3/4" tall to the top of the Bacchus finial. The pottery appears to be undamaged, with no chips, cracks, or hairlines.
    I am a member of Stein Collectors International as well as a member of the Chicago area chapter, The Meister Steiners.
