Welcome to the next part of my never ending political sale!My mother covered the White House for Time Magazine in the 60s and 70s, my dad covered the 1956 and 1960 campaigns.
I have been doing a spring cleaning, and have found lots more stuff.
I will hold lots for up to 3 weeks and combine shipping- send me a message if you'd like to do this. Less work for me!
Here we have a menu from a Richard Nixon dinner- St. Francis Hotel SF 8/21/69
The piece measuring 4 1/4 x 6 1/2", on heavy stock paper.
In great condition.
Since it was summer, my mom took me along.
I remember 3 things.
- There were lots of protestors in the square outside of the hotel. I picked up a protest sign out of the trash and mom said sternly "put that back". Too bad- I bet that the Smithsonian might have liked it. Side note- I was working in DC when there was a big anti-Obama protest- I grabbed some signs out of the trash. I still have them- they were all hand made. My fave one says " Keep Your Filthy Hands Off of Our Children". Oh my.
- We stayed at the St. Francis. We were waiting for the service elevator- the door opened and there was The President with like 2 Secret Service guys.
- We also went to San Clemente and I saw Dan Rather on the beach filming a report wearing a coat and tie and swim trunks :)
I do offer full refunds if you are livid, so bid with confidence.
I will be selling more political menus over the next few weeks, so keep an eye on my listings if you collect menus.
A nice JFK train menu from 1960 and maybe some other menus.
