Description

Ticket to the inauguration of President Richard Nixon and Vice President Spiro Agnew, Washington, 1973. Globe Ticket Company. Unused, with intact stub. For seating in the stands along the parade route. Verso features portraits of Nixon and Agnew, the White House, and the legend, "Spirit of '76."
When Nixon and Agnew were sworn into their second terms, it was assumed they would be in office for the nation's bicentennial, in 1976 (thus the legend on the back of this ticket). History had other plans for them, however. Separate scandals would force both of their resignations, and their appointed successors would preside over the anniversary of Independence.
