Description
****Here is a nice Imperial German beer stein, belonging to a reservist in a Prussian unit, stationed in Berlin from 1899-1901. This stein is beautifully hand painted, showing Lady "Germania" on the front, wearing a Prussian eagle on her breastplate, as well as on her dress. The left side shows soldiers relaxing by a fire, while the right side shows the soldiers in action. The back has the names of the men who served in this unit painted on, with a simply painted handle. This stein has a soldier on the top as a lid ornament, with a Prussian eagle as a thumb lever. This stein also has a lithophane present. Unfortunately, this stein has seen some wear. The paint around the edges has worn with age and probably use, and this stein also possess a repair. Almost right down the middle a crack formed, and repair cement is present on the front. The crack goes down to Lady Germania's face, and is much more pronounced inside. The crack started at the lip, and goes down almost the entire length inside. It shows signs of repair cement, though it is present. Thus, the price. This stein measures 11 1/2 inches tall.............See Images****
